PERU BURNS OFF 7.4 TONS OF ILLEGAL DRUGS

7.4 tons of illegal drugs were incinerated at the national police headquarters in Lima on Nov. 4, which was the seventh large-scale incineration so far this year. The current batch of drugs was seized since mid-Oct. The Peruvian government has upheld its campaign to eradicate illegal coca leaf crops, which are the main ingredients for making cocaine. The latest cremation preludes the meeting of the Inter-American Commission for Drug Abuse Control (CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS). 35 countries will take part in the meeting from Nov. 11 to 13 in Peru.
